Baseball Recap: Rauner Takes a Loss

Rauner extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They came up short against the Bulls College Prep Bulls, falling 11-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 13, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Javier Preciado was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Rauner: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-11 otherwise.

As for Bulls College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 4-7. That eight run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Bulls College Prep's side, they let Jeremiah Alvarado and Kevin Smith run wild. Alvarado went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Smith got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Alvarado has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Octavio Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rauner will head out to square off against Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park at 5:30 p.m. on the 6th. As for Bulls College Prep, they will venture away from home to challenge Westmont at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
