Basketball Recap: St. Brendan Takes a Loss

St. Brendan was the 59-33 winner over Archbishop McCarthy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Brendan Sabres took a 57-42 bruising from the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why St. Brendan lost, don't look at Bella Perez. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. That was a full 40.5% of St. Brendan's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gia Patchen, who earned seven points.

St. Brendan has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Archbishop McCarthy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Brendan will face off against TERRA Environmental at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gulliver Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
