Football Recap: Welch Starts off Right with Win over Cornerstone

Welch took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Cornerstone Spartans by a score of 24-12.

The critical scores for Welch came from Eric Pitcher, Colton Moss, and Joseph Clinton.

Welch was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone only rushed for 91 rushing yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Welch's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Pitcher. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Welch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 50-12 loss against Claremore Christian on the 5th. As for Cornerstone, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 58-12 defeat against Bluejacket on the 5th.
