Baseball Recap: Dunellen Beats Perth Amboy Vo-Tech for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Dunellen entered their tilt with Perth Amboy Vo-Tech on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Patriots 15-1. That's more bragging rights for the Destroyers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Michael Dow and Joseph Reyes were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Dow pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Reyes struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Dow posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Dow went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Reyes went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Dunellen is undefeated when Dow posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cole Mayer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Stein, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Dunellen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dunellen pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Perth Amboy Vo-Tech, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
