Basketball Game Preview: Waco Lions vs. Belton Tigers

Waco is 2-8 against Belton since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Waco Lions duke it out with the Belton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Waco is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They fell 76-66 to University. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 926th, while the Trojans are ranked 103rd).

Meanwhile, Belton unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Ellison, falling 71-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered since January 23, 2024.

Belton's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Waco, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-18.

Waco came up short against Belton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 53-41. Can Waco avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
