Softball Recap: Hickman County Gets the Win

Hickman County's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Caldwell County Tigers 7-6. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 10-8 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2017.

Jenna Byassee was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kayley Howell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Hickman County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Hickman County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Caldwell County, they moved to 11-13 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Hickman County will host Graves County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Caldwell County, they will take on Crittenden County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
