Softball Game Preview: East River Falcons vs. Bayside Bears

The East River Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Bayside Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East River will be strutting in after a win while Bayside will be coming in after a loss.

East River's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Trinity Prep by a score of 4-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Not much got past Katherine Sanchez, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Trinity Prep off the board.

At the plate, East River's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tru Mastro, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Bayside didn't have quite enough to beat Melbourne Central Catholic on Thursday and fell 7-6.

JORDYN MILO made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of HANNAH DOLLAR, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Bayside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Bayside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for East River, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went East River's way against Bayside when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as East River made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East River since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
