Baseball Game Preview: Timberline Wolves vs. Owyhee Storm

The Timberline Wolves will challenge the Owyhee Storm at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Timberline: they have been struggling with ten straight losses at home, while Owyhee has snatched up ten consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.

Timberline fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Mountain View on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 2-1.

Logan Thistle was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Owyhee faced Rocky Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Storm walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Grizzlies. The win continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won nine in a row.

Kaleb Doty looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Cade Walker was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Timberline's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Owyhee, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Timberline has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Owyhee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
