Basketball Recap: Atlanta Jewish Academy Comes Up Short

Atlanta Jewish Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguar this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-56 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Atlanta Jewish Academy lost, don't look at Zac Agichtein. Despite the final result, he posted 35 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Agichtein has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 19 times he's played. Benjamin Smolensky was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Agichtein wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Atlanta Jewish Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Atlanta Jewish Academy's record is now 9-20. As for Holy Spirit Prep, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-14.
