Basketball Game Preview: BASIS Flagstaff Yetis vs. Rock Point Cougars

The BASIS Flagstaff Yetis will square off against the Rock Point Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

BASIS Flagstaff is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Joseph City on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. BASIS Flagstaff was outmatched by Joseph City and fell 84-49. The Yetis were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-30.

Meanwhile, Rock Point had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down the Warriors 64-48.

The win got Rock Point back to even at 10-10. As for BASIS Flagstaff, they dropped their record down to 10-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

BASIS Flagstaff was able to grind out a solid victory over Rock Point in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 90-77. Will BASIS Flagstaff repeat their success, or does Rock Point have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
