Baseball Recap: Schroon Lake Takes a Loss

Schroon Lake extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Johnsburg Central Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-9 back in April.

As for Johnsburg Central, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Johnsburg Central's part, Cole Millington made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Millington has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicholas Sauer-Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Johnsburg Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-2 win against Wells on the 19th. Hopefully Schroon Lake paid attention to the Jaguars' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
