Colleton County dropped their record down to 14-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beaufort Eagles. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Brooklyn Holmes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

As for Beaufort, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Beaufort's side, Adalyn Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave Johnson a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aliyah Aiken, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Kara Nuehring was another, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colleton County will face off against May River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Sharks have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Beaufort, they will take on Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
