Baseball Game Preview: McConnellsburg Spartans vs. Forbes Road

McConnellsburg has gone 8-2 against Forbes Road recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Spartans will face off against Forbes Road at 4:30 p.m. McConnellsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, McConnellsburg didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Union and fell 2-1. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

McConnellsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hoyt Glenn, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Glenn is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Meanwhile, Forbes Road was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-0 to Southern Huntingdon County.

Forbes Road's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for McConnellsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

McConnellsburg took their win against Forbes Road when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-3 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do Forbes Road have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
