Preview: Fayette Falcons vs. South Callaway Bulldogs
The Fayette Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the South Callaway Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fayette is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Fayette suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Centralia at home and fell 68-32. Fayette was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-23.
Despite their defeat, Fayette saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Payton Oeth, who scored ten points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Charles Alexander was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, South Callaway's good fortune finally ran out last Thursday. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Montgomery County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fayette's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for South Callaway, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Fayette was taken down by South Callaway 76-44 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Fayette avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
