Basketball Game Preview: Proviso West Panthers vs. Lyons Lions

Proviso West hasn't had much luck against Lyons recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Proviso West Panthers duke it out with the Lyons Lions at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Proviso West's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 88-61, which was the final score in Proviso West's tilt against Marist on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the RedHawks are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Lyons posted their biggest victory since December 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They breezed by Hinsdale South to the tune of 66-29.

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Proviso West, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Proviso West was able to grind out a solid victory over Lyons in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 63-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Proviso West since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
