Volleyball Game Preview: Athens Bulldogs vs. Miami Trace Panthers

Athens has gone a perfect 3-0 against Miami Trace recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Athens beat Meigs 3-1. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Marauders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Athens was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 18-25, 25-9, 25-10.

River View typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Miami Trace proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Black Bears 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since September 18th.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Miami Trace got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 22-25, 25-21.

Athens' record now sits at 16-6. As for Miami Trace, their record is now 14-6.

Athens came out on top in a nail-biter against Miami Trace in their previous matchup back in August of 2018, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
