Basketball Game Preview: Wood River Wolverines vs. Filer Wildcats + How To Watch

Wood River is 0-5 against Filer since January of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wolverines will take on the Wildcats in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. Wood River's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Filer's offense will have their work cut out for them.

While Wood River didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 29-17 victory over Canyon Ridge last Monday. The 29-point effort marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Wood River got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Heitzman out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Heitzman has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tobie Stilling, who posted four points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Filer not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since January 30th (when they won 58-29). Everything went their way against Gooding as they made off with a 50-29 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Wood River's record is now 4-1. As for Filer, their record now sits at 7-2.

Wood River suffered a grim 51-26 defeat to Filer in their previous matchup back in January. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
