Baseball Game Preview: Esparto Spartans vs. Elite unknown

The Esparto Spartans will head out to challenge the Elite unknown at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Esparto has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Esparto fell victim to Delta and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 19-0 to the Saints. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Esparto saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hernan Hernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Elite played against Leroy Greene Academy on Monday and lost via forfeit.

Esparto's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Elite, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Esparto came out on top in a nail-biter against Elite in their previous meeting last Monday, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
