Basketball Recap: Sexton Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Sexton had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They received a blow as they fell 73-58 to the East Lansing Trojans. The Big Reds were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

East Lansing's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kelvin (KJ) Torbert, Jr., who went 10-for-17 en route to 26 points and eight rebounds. Torbert, Jr. is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston (KT) Thomas, who shot 59% from the field to rack up 23 points and eight boards.

The win (which was East Lansing's 25th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Sexton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 84-60 victory against Portland on the 11th. As for East Lansing, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-53 win against Everett on the 11th.
