Football Recap: Crest Skates Past Concord with Ease

Crest had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Concord Spiders 69-6. Considering the Chargers have won eight contests by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ely Hamrick was his usual excellent self, throwing for 256 yards and six touchdowns on only 12 passes, while also punching in one TD on the ground. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in August. Brock Melton was another key passer, throwing for 62 yards and a pair of TDs.

Crest didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Concord to a completion percentage of just 30%. The team can thank Donovan Walton for the heroic effort on defense: he. Crest hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.62 or higher in three consecutive games.

Crest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points over those games. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Crest will square off against East Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 884 yards in their previous games. Concord does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
