The Westwood Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Morningside Academy Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westwood fell victim to Lincoln Park Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 17-0 defeat at the hands of the Greyhounds. Considering the last time Westwood couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.
Meanwhile, Morningside Academy put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Boca Raton Christian with a sharp 20-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Morningside Academy.
Gianna DeRicco was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. DeRicco was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Morningside Academy got a big performance out of Meghan Enyart, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Wilbur, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Morningside Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
