Softball Recap: Gahr Takes a Loss

The matchup between Gahr and La Mirada on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Gladiators lost 16-8 to the Matadores. The Gladiators have struggled against the Matadores recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Mya Laroya was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Megan Wong was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Gahr's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-6-2. As for La Mirada, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Gahr will take on Mater Dei Catholic in a tournament on Wednesday. The Gladiators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for La Mirada, they will welcome Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
