Basketball Recap: Boone Central Find Success

Centura came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Boone Central, but Addy Hedlund wouldn't allow it. The Boone Central Cardinals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-38 victory over the Centura Centurions on Tuesday thanks in part to Hedlund, who went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points and eight boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Boone Central's points.

Ciara Baker was another key player, putting up six points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Centura saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kennedy Davis dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten blocks. Davis is becoming a predictor of Centura's success: when she posts at least five blocks the team is 6-2 (and 5-9 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Taya Taukiuvea, who posted two points and six rebounds.

Boone Central's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Centura, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11.

Boone Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 40-26 loss against Northwest on the 13th. As for Centura, they have also already played their next contest, a 52-26 victory against Arcadia/Loup City on the 14th.
