Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kaylee Terney and Ali Meyers Lead Affton to Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Affton took on Hazelwood West on Friday. The Cougars won by a set and slipped past the Wildcats 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Affton was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-13, 26-28, 23-25, 25-17, 15-9.

Leading Affton to victory were Ali Meyers and Kaylee Terney. Meyers had 21 digs and three aces, while Terney had three aces and one assist. The dominant performance also gave Meyers a new career-high in assists (eight). Aida Hieneman also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Affton's record now sits at 7-10-1. As for Hazelwood West, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Affton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley on the 11th. Hopefully Hazelwood West paid attention to the Cougars' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Cougars at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
