Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

After losing to Sanger the last time they met, Roosevelt decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Roosevelt Rough Riders secured a 73-67 W over the Sanger Apaches on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rough Riders.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cobi Posas, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Posas also racked up five assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Terrell Sutherland was another key player, going 8 for 15 en route to 18 points and eight boards.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Sanger, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 15-8.

Roosevelt and Sanger should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Roosevelt (ranked 274th) will meet Edison (ranked 965th) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Meanwhile, Sanger will take on Fresno at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 487 places (178 vs. 665). Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.9 points per game this season.
