Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Stritch Cardinals vs. Old Fort Stockaders

The Cardinal Stritch Cardinals will face off against the Old Fort Stockaders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cardinal Stritch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Cardinal Stritch turned things around against Bowsher on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 8-2 win.

Simon Ross was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Cardinal Stritch is 3-1 when Ross posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Michael Rosales was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Cardinal Stritch: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. David Crook was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Old Fort didn't have quite enough to beat Toledo Christian on Monday and fell 6-5.

Max Rowlands was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Caiden Swecker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Old Fort's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Cardinal Stritch, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
