Preview: Savannah Bluejackets vs. Screven County Gamecocks
The Savannah Bluejackets will be playing at home against the Screven County Gamecocks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Savannah made easy work of Groves and carried off a 45-25 victory.
Savannah had a senior duo take command as Tania Bryant scored 18 points and Ernajah Mallard scored 12 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bryant has scored at least 25% of Savannah's points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Williams, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Screven County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Emanuel County Institute at home to the tune of 66-25. The result was nothing new for Screven County, who have now won three matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Alailah Scott, who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jaliah Roberts was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The losses dropped Savannah to 2-2 and Groves to 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Savannah have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Screven County struggles in that department as they've been even better at 32.8 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
