Baseball Recap: Issaquah Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Issaquah had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the North Creek Jaguars on Thursday. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 win the Jaguars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Griffin Neel made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Landon Gray looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Issaquah's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Joe Foss, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Dylan Boettcher was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Issaquah's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for North Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Issaquah has already played their next matchup, a 9-2 defeat against Eastlake on the 3rd. As for North Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Bothell on the 3rd.
