Softball Game Preview: Benet Academy Redwings vs. Saint Viator Lions

For the second straight game, Benet Academy will face off against Saint Viator. The Redwings will head out to take on the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Benet Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Saint Viator with a sharp 13-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Redwings considering their one-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Hannah Baer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Cunningham, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Benet Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Benet Academy pushed their record up to 8-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Saint Viator, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.
