Basketball Game Preview: Global Concepts Gators vs. Kennedy Bears

Global Concepts has gone 4-0 against Kennedy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Global Concepts Gators will head out to take on the Kennedy Bears at 6:30 p.m. Global Concepts is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Global Concepts turned things around against Eden on Monday. They pulled ahead with a 66-65 photo finish over the Raiders. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Gators' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 595th, while the Raiders are ranked 213th).

Global Concepts' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jose Castro, who went 7 of 14 en route to 20 points in addition to five assists and three steals, and Eric Davis, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Davis is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Duane Fears, who posted eight points along with five assists and five boards.

Global Concepts smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kennedy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 68-60 win over Cleveland Hill on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bears as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kennedy's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Global Concepts, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Global Concepts strolled past Kennedy when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 62-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Global Concepts since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
