The Hesperia Scorpions are taking a road trip to square off against the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hesperia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Hesperia came out on top against Indio on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Scorpions put the hurt on the Rajahs with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Alex Valencia looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hesperia got a big performance out of Carlos Ramirez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Ramirez has posted since back in April of 2025. Gavin Coscarat was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Hesperia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indio only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, Apple Valley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Serrano on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sun Devils.
Gaven Roper looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles were his first of the season.
Hesperia's record is now 13-4. As for Apple Valley, their record now sits at 11-7.
Hesperia got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Apple Valley by a conclusive 17-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scorpions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
