Volleyball Recap: Torrey Pines Falls Short of Mater Dei in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Torrey Pines can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Mater Dei Monarchs on Saturday. The Falcons' defeat signaled the end of their 21-game winning streak.

Parker Herrin paced Torrey Pines' offense, picking up 20 kills. Herrin got some help from Emery Gonzales and her 43 assists. Jaycee Mack and Finley Krystkowiak kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Mater Dei can attribute much of their success to Kalea Lee, who had 23 digs and five aces. Those 23 digs gave Lee a new career-high.

Torrey Pines' loss dropped their record down to 38-5. As for Mater Dei, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 33-5 record this season.

Torrey Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mater Dei, they are taking a road trip to challenge Sierra Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
