Softball Recap: Ellsworth Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Spearville, Ellsworth was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Republic County Buffaloes. The win continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now won five in a row.

Johanna Lindsley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Lindsley was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lakyn Beckman was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one double. Reygan Coonrod was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Ellsworth now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Republic County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13.

Ellsworth will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Buffaloes: the pair will be back at it again later today.
