Marvin Ridge came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Hough Huskies. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-16, 25-14.

Brooklyn Wilson was the offensive standout of the game as she had 12 digs and three aces.

Wilson wasn't the only good server: Marvin Ridge was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in nine consecutive contests.

Marvin Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Hough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Marvin Ridge and Hough should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Mavericks (ranked fifth) will meet Weddington (ranked 35th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hough will challenge West Mecklenburg at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (170 vs. 616).
