Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Routt Catholic's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Routt Catholic lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Quincy Notre Dame, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. The Rockets never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Eli Olson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Routt Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jace Lautemann was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Routt Catholic is 12-1 when Lautemann posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Thompson, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Routt Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Routt Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy Notre Dame, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-10 record this season.
