Softball Game Preview: East Marshall Mustangs vs. Grundy Center Spartans

East Marshall is 9-1 against Grundy Center since July of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs will host the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

East Marshall took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Twin Cedars 11-3.

Meanwhile, Grundy Center hadn't done well against South Hamilton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their one-run performance the match before.

East Marshall's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Grundy Center, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
