Basketball Game Preview: Del Valle Conquistadores vs. Parkland Matadors

The Del Valle Conquistadores will take on the Parkland Matadors in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Parkland took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Del Valle, who comes in off a win.

Del Valle is headed into the game having just posted their biggest win since November 14th on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Horizon as Del Valle made off with a 71-50 victory. Given the Conquistadores' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while the Scorpions are ranked 1319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Parkland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-47 heartbreaker at the hands of Hanks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Matadors have suffered since January 26th.

Del Valle is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Parkland, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
