Baseball Recap: Orange Park Raiders vs. Beachside Barracudas
Orange Park extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beachside Barracudas. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Barracudas from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.
Orange Park saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brian Allen, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Beachside, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs this season.
On Beachside's side, Brady Anderson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Derek Ochoa, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Gillespie, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Coming up, Orange Park will challenge Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Beachside, they will face off against St. Johns Country Day at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
