Basketball Recap: Southcrest Christian Falls Short of First Baptist in the Playoffs

Southcrest Christian and First Baptist squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Southcrest Christian had to settle for second. They took a blow against the First Baptist Saints, falling 69-25. Southcrest Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.

Bella Jacobo-Redding had a dynamite game for First Baptist, going 8-for-18 en route to 22 points along with eight steals and five assists. That's the most assists Jacobo-Redding has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolbie Gillispie, who earned 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Southcrest Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for First Baptist, they pushed their record up to 30-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Southcrest Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for First Baptist, they will take on Christian Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season.
