Volleyball Recap: Washington Patriots vs. Martinsburg Bulldogs

Washington lost against Martinsburg back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Washington Patriots fell just short of the Martinsburg Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Patriots have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Washington actually scored more points across those five sets (105-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 15-12.

Martinsburg found their leader in underclassman Abby Ruppenthal, who had seven digs and six aces. Those six aces set a new season-high mark for Ruppenthal.

Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20-3. As for Martinsburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11-2.

Washington will face off against Spring Mills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Martinsburg, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Saint James on the 16th.
