Verona took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Waunakee, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Warriors on Friday. The win was nothing new for Verona as they're now sitting on three straight.

Verona's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Waunakee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-3-3.

Verona and Waunakee should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Wildcats will square off against Vel Phillips Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (28 vs. 101). Meanwhile, Waunakee (ranked 19th) will meet Fort Atkinson (ranked 165th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
