Basketball Recap: Jackson Heights Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Taylor Bosley and Brynn Shupe

Jackson Heights lost against Atchison County back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Jackson Heights Cobras took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Atchison County Tigers.

Brynn Shupe and Taylor Bosley certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Shupe went 6-for-15 to rack up 19 points and six boards, while Bosley posted 11 points and seven rebounds. The game was Shupe's third in a row with at least 15 points. Sabrina Streeter also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Even though they lost, Jackson Heights smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atchison County only four offensive rebounds.

Atchison County had a senior duo take command as Kinzee Bauerle went 11-for-23 on her way to 32 points and seven boards and Kori Wagner had 11 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Bauerle has scored at least a third of Atchison County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Scholz, who scored seven points and seven rebounds.

Jackson Heights dropped their record down to 3-13 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Atchison County, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Jackson Heights has already played their next matchup, a 36-29 defeat against Jefferson County North on the 13th. As for Atchison County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-54 victory against Pleasant Ridge on the 14th.
