Soccer Game Preview: Rodriguez vs. Wood

The Rodriguez Mustangs will face off against the Wood Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rodriguez's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Rodriguez is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Pioneer on Wednesday. Rodriguez fell 2-0 to Pioneer. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, Wood managed to keep up with River City until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Wood came up short against River City, falling 4-1. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly three goals.

Their goal came courtesy of Manny Contreras, who's now up to three this season.

Rodriguez's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Wood, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8-3.

Everything went Rodriguez's way against Wood in their previous matchup back in January, as Rodriguez made off with a 4-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rodriguez since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
