It was a good run, but Powell County unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to the Estill County Engineers. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Engineers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Powell County's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Estill County, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-7.

Powell County will square off against Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Estill County, they will be taking part in a tournament against Boyd County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
