Newcomerstown's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the East Canton Hornets with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on September 8th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-16.

Maddie Kellish paced Newcomerstown's offense, picking up 11 kills. Kellish got some help from Maggie Collins and her 23 assists. Diane Raber controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the defeat, East Canton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Corinne Hawthorne had 12 digs. Lexi Couts also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Newcomerstown's record is now 6-9. As for East Canton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
