Volleyball Recap: Durango Trailblazers vs. Sunrise Mountain Miners
If Durango was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Doral Academy Red Rock last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trailblazers lost 3-0 to the Sunrise Mountain Miners on Wednesday. The Trailblazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Miners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
While Durango was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-22, 25-16.
Abel Gebru paced Durango's offense, picking up seven kills. Gebru got some help from James Carl Serrano and his 20 assists. Finally, Jovon Johnson kept Durango's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Durango's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Sunrise Mountain, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11.
Coming up, Durango will be taking part in a tournament against Eldorado at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will be playing at home against Mojave at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
