Soccer Game Preview: Maynard vs. Assabet Valley RVT

The Maynard Tigers will head out to square off against the Assabet Valley RVT Aztecs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Maynard's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Hudson by a score of 2-0. Given Maynard's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Hudson are ranked 303rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Assabet Valley RVT made easy work of Oxford on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 win. That three goal margin sets a new team best for Assabet Valley RVT this season.

Maynard's victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 5-3-3. As for Assabet Valley RVT, their record is now 6-4-4.

Maynard beat Assabet Valley RVT 2-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
