Baseball Recap: Wagner Thunderbirds vs. Smithson Valley Rangers
Wagner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-1 to the Smithson Valley Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 on Tuesday.
Wagner saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Olveda, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Wagner's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20-2. As for Smithson Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-4.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wagner is set to square off against their familiar foe Boerne-Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Smithson Valley will face off against rival Tivy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rangers 3.8, the Antlers 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
