Basketball Recap: Horizon Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

On Friday, the Horizon Hawks were able to grind out a solid victory over the Centaurus Warriors, taking the game 67-54. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Warriors are ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Horizon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Sokolowski out in front who went 6 for 7 to rack up 15 points and seven boards. The matchup was Sokolowski's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Boaz Wisne, who posted 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Centaurus lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jesse Efe, who earned 12 points. Those 12 points gave Efe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jt Falzone, who scored 12 points.

Horizon is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 35% in those games and 27.7% outside of them. As for Centaurus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Hawks challenge the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frederick will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Horizon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centaurus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mead's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups.
