Recap: Dublin Scioto Irish vs. Hayes Pacers

After flying high against the Franklin Heights Falcons last Friday, the Dublin Scioto Irish came back down to earth. Dublin Scioto fell to Hayes 48-44. Dublin Scioto was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hayes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Dublin Scioto still got an impressive performance from Evan Rinker, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Rinker is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Smoot, who scored two points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.

Dublin Scioto was without their leading scorer, Niah Smedley, in Tuesday's contest. With Smedley sitting this one out, Elizabeth Williams got some extra time on the court (30 vs. her season average of 7.75).

Dublin Scioto has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Hayes, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-15.

Dublin Scioto is on the road again on Friday and plays Big Walnut at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Big Walnut will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Dublin Scioto surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hayes, they will be playing at home against Canal Winchester at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canal Winchester presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hayes in Ohio (Canal Winchester is ranked 118th, while Hayes is ranked 570th).
